The ordering physician must have determined and documented that patients who require this service are at low risk for a life-threatening cardiac event (non-critical care). REMOTE OUTPATIENT CARDIAC TELEMETRY: ROCT TELEMETRY service is limited to patients who have demonstrated a specific need for this type of cardiac telemetry service. The device is worn at all times, usually for up to 30 days. THE “EVENT” ECG RECORDING IS transmitTED transtelephonically to a receiving center where the data are reviewed AND REPORTED TO THE ORDERING PHYSICIAN. DUE TO THE EXTENDED LENGTH IN MONITORING UP TO 14 DAYS, THIS MONITORING MODALITY MAY BE BETTER FOR PATIENT NOT EXPERIENCING daily or near daily symptoms.ĬARDIAC EVENT: FOR THE patient-activated event monitors, the patient initiates recording when symptoms appear or when instructed to do so by a physician (e.g., following exercise). tHE RECORDED data are then computer-analyzed at a later time, and a physician interprets the computer-generated report. A 24-48 hour monitor is most appropriate for patients with daily or near daily symptoms.ĮXTENDED HOLTER - Continuous Long-Term ECG MonitorING: MUCH LIKE A TRADITIONAL HOLTER, WITH EXTENDED HOLTER THE ECG IS continuously recordING a real-time EKG UP TO 14 DAYS. tHE RECORDERD data are then computer-analyzed at a later time, and a physician interprets the computer-generated report. HOLTER: AN electrocardiography that continuously record a real-time EKG IS commonly known as Holter™ monitor. THE ROCT IS CAPABLE OF MONITORING FOR HOLTER, EXTENDED HOLTER, CARDIAC EVENT, OR REMOTE OUTPATIENT CARDIAC TELEMETRY. for patients who have no cellular coverage, the device can be retrieved and downloaded manually so that all ecg findings will be reported to the provider in an end of study. therefore, roct monitoring shall not be used for high risk patients, such as patients that should be monitored in an icu setting. Thus, unless patient is in a controlled enviroment with full cellular coverage during their monitoring period, in the event there is low or no cellular coverage, ecg transmissions may be delayed until coverage resumes. it is important to take note that although the roct does transmit continuously multi-lead ecg to the monitored telemetry center, it depends on phone/cellular coverage to transmit. in general, the use of cardiac outpatient telemetry may not meet the definition of medical necessity for certain indications including, but not limited to, ongoing management after diagnosis, screening, or monitoring patients with life-threatening arrhythmias. *Important notice: ROCT Monitoring is approved for the long-term monitoring of arrhythmia events in non-critical care patients and the roct is not intended for monitoring patients with life-threatening arrhythmias.
